Chapultepec´s Second Section opened in 1962. Of the park´s three sections, it is the one that is more build up: its 415 acres feature a profusion of cultural, entertainment and sport venues.
At the beginning of the 1960s, the Scenic Train station was inaugurated in this section of the park, designed by Arch. Leónides Guadarrama. A locomotive marked with No. 58, made to scale and model of the first locomotives in the country, with 6 wagons and a capacity of 18 to 20 passengers traveled a circuit of less than 1000 meters, in a time of 10 minutes.
By 1973 the little train was made up of a scale diesel-electric locomotive with ten passenger cars and had a capacity to transport up to 80 adults and 120 children.
This 2023 Pro Bosque Trust set the goal to rehabilitate the old train station abandoned since 2006 and the train tracks to recover this highly desired tour experienced by many people.
The rehabilitation project will be carried out by the office A911 and has the purpose of evoking the railway and architectural history of the station, and rescuing the experience of contemplating and enjoying the wonderful landscapes offered by the recently renovated second section, through a pleasant and attractive tour, in an invaluable natural environment.
