After making an analysis on the current state of the water system of the Third Section, we came to these conclusions:
-There is little retention of rainwater in streams and most of the infiltration is only superficial.
-The Dam of Dolores works as a regulating vessel where all the runoff from the basin arrives and the discharge elements require maintenance.
– Currently, the water outlet is continuous and the water that arrives is released to the drainage system. It is necessary to clean slopes and remove solid waste.
The rehabilitation and commissioning of the Dolores Dam will not only recover the water network of the 3rd Section, but the potential of a recreational space that will have jogging tracks, trails and areas for rest around the dam. In addition to the rehabilitation of the dam, the Master Plan contemplates the following:
-The recovery of the soil to increase infiltration.
-Dams to retain rainwater to the aquifer.
-An efficient water system throughout the area.
-The recovery of the gullies that form a large part of the landscape.
All these arrangements not only have ecological benefits, they will provide the Third Section with a recreational and educational character for the enjoyment of the inhabitants of the CDMX.
