With the purpose of restoring the balance and environmental health of Chapultepec, actions were implemented to favor the presence of endemic and endangered species such as the Mexican sparrow, the axolotl, the acocil, the mexcalpique and the cacomixtle, as well as migratory species. Among which are wild ducks and herons.
Important efforts were made towards the elimination of rats and relocation of other species such as cats, dogs, squirrels, mojarras and pigeons, Nesting sites were reduced, by means of non-lethal techniques, of exotic species such as rook and European sparrows. These efforts have favored the arrival of migratory birds and the control of harmful fauna.
