The Guardians of the Future fountain was designed by Sergio Suárez and built
by the architect Leónides Guadarrama in 1964. It is located in the Second
Section and was in very poor condition. The following works were necessary
for its rehabilitation:
-Maintenance of pumping equipment.
-Injection of cracks in the main mirror.
-Cleaning of the sculpture and the bronze plate.
-Rehabilitation of the gardens that surround it.
This rehabilitation was done thanks to the Tetra Pak company in its “Protect
the Good”; program, which has the vision of restoring parks and monuments
with a social sense whose objective is to benefit Mexican families by
promoting their coexistence.
During the Management Plan of the Second Section, it was considered to
improve the entire system of sources in the area, for this reason, the following
recovery works were carried out in each of them:
-The pneumatic equipment and hydraulic installations that feed the fountains
were rehabilitated.
-The graffiti was removed.
–Changed damaged finishes.
-The sculpture and the bronze plate were cleaned.
-The surrounding vegetation has been improved.
