This athletic track receives an average of 4,000 runners daily. It is open 365
days a year and is a reference point for the entire athletic community, and is
considered one of the best running areas in the country.
Its rehabilitation had an investment of 40 million pesos, of which 20 million
were contributed by HSBC, HSBC-Seguros, Grupo Modelo, Comercial Mexicana,
Office Max, and Los Bisquets de Obregón, raised through the Pro Bosque de
Chapultepec Trust; 20 million more were provided by the Government of the
Federal District (Today Mexico´s City Government). The executive project was
donated by the Legorreta+Legorreta architect´s office.
The recovery works that were carried out, included the perimeter fence, the
green áreas, and track 1, 820 meters long, track 2, 1,150 meters long, and the
speed track, 100 meters long.
Actions:
-Forest sanitation of the entire area.
-Soil decompacting in 9.26 hectares.
-Placement of 1991.41 cubic meters of chipping.
–Reforestation of 800 trees (2 meters high).
-Rehabilitation of 4000 meters of concrete linings to contain the runner’s
track.
– Substitution of runway fills with a compacted fine red sand finish to give
firmness to the runway.
-Placement of drains around the contour of the track to dislodge water from its
interior.
-Construction of access and exit bays for the runner’s track, placed every 100
meters.
-Placement of signaling indicating distances every 100 meters on runway 1 and
runway 2; general regulations, information board, and signage at the
entrances.
-Installation of 203 solar lights on the runner’s track, 94 lights on track 1, and
109 on track 2.
-Installation based on PVC pipe with resistance to hydraulic pressure.
-Placement of 2,300 meters of piping and 265 irrigation sprinklers on runway 1.
-Placement of 2,700 meters of pipes and 335 irrigation sprinklers on runway 2.
– Placement of 1643 meters of perimeter fence and five double-leaf doors in
the confinement of the Runners track.
-Placement of 33,600 ornamental plants in the perimeter area of the runners'
track in circuits 1, 2, and in the 100-meter track.
-Placement of 22 outdoor gym equipment.
-Installation of a pergola for outdoor exercises.
This circuit, located in the Second Section of the Chapultepec Forest, is one of
the most visited by athletics lovers. It is made up of two circuits with a length
of 1,200 and 850 meters, whose surface is built with fine-grained tezontle. It
also has a 100-meter track. It has solar lights; in addition to drinking fountains
that operate with a purification system by means of ultraviolet light and a cooling
system. It has secondary accesses in which paving based on round adocrete was
incorporated, which allows a solid and smooth floor to enter the track. It has
bike parking for those runners and space for warm-up exercises and an
outdoor gym. There is signage every 100 meters, it has surveillance, lighting,
drinking fountains, and parking nerby.
