After conducting a forestry analysis of the Third Section, we obtained the following results:
-25% of the trees in the plateaus and hills are damaged or in poor condition, 15% are dead and should be removed. Red eucalyptus is the predominant species in these areas and has been affected by conchuela.
-The trees of the ravines are healthy, white cedar, Tepozán, Fresnos and different species of Pines predominate.
-The soil of plateaus and lowhills is eroded.
The Master Plan contemplates various actions to return to this area the environmental value it has lost, for example, an ecosystem restoration, reforestation with pine / oak and its plant groups and a management program to properly treat soil and trees. This will bring as a benefit a better capture of carbon, a greater biodiversity of flora and fauna, and a better catchment of water.
An interdisciplinary working group composed of scientists and researchers specialized in vegetation, soils, hydrological, cartographic and topographic aspects are in charge of these actions.
