The fountain is located in a square and is surrounded by four concrete benches covered in colorful tiles which present passages from the Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra´s (1547-1616) novel, Don Quijote de la Mancha. The tiles date back to 1921. Each side of the square has a column, one of them is a bronze figure of the Quijote with the famous painter Salvador Dalí´s face. The other one is Sancho Panza with the face of the Mexican muralist Diego Rivera. The original sculptures were commissioned by Miguel Alessio Robles and built in Seville, however, the originals were stolen in 1974 and replaced by those created by José María Fernández Urbina.
