The obelisk is a rectangular construction made up of three block sections that decrease in width as they rise. The highest point is decorated with a gold palm leaf, and the names of the Niños Héroes are crowned with a medallion of an eagle devouring a snake. The middle block presents the date inscription of September 13, 1847. And at the base, the epitaph “In memory of the cadets of the Colegio Militar that perished as heroes during the US invasion” can be read. A fence with 4 small pillars surrounds it.
