Culture of the First Section of Chapultepec Forest
Known as the “Old Forest,” it has been the setting for key events in the history of Mexico. Within its 273.83 hectares, it houses some of the most important cultural venues in Latin America, as well as the country’s leading Wildlife Conservation Center. It is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Cencalli’s objective is to showcase to the general public the country’s food biodiversity, techniques, art, and the culture surrounding both ancestral and contemporary culinary knowledge.
This monument pays tribute to Cuban politician, thinker, and writer José Martí, founder of the Cuban Revolutionary Party, who found a second home in Mexico.
Built in 1881, the Obelisk to the Niños Héroes is a monument dedicated to all the cadets of the Military College who defended the Castle from the U.S. invaders in September 1847.
Casa del Lago’s mission is to promote and disseminate artistic and cultural expressions, offering a varied program that includes workshops, lectures, theater performances, concerts, film screenings, and temporary exhibitions.
This new cultural venue consists of two areas distributed across a 300-square-meter space. The historic building—formerly the entrance to the old Chapultepec Military College—has been fully restored to function as a dual space housing both a Site Museum and a Visitor Center.
