It was commissioned to be built in Seville, Spain by Miguel Alessio Robles in 1921.

It was originally placed in El Bosque´s main entrance, but later on, was relocated in the rear section of the Zoo, at the crossroads between “La Milla” and Chivatito. It is an exact replica in scale, building process and ceramic finish of the Las Ranas Fountain in the María Luisa park of Seville. The fountain is coated with Sevillian tiles and decorated with eight gray and green porcelain frogs sitting on its circumference. In its center a bronze duck on top of a turtle spurts water from its beak, as do the frogs from their mouths. It is one of the oldest fountains ofEl Bosque de Chapultepec, and very much worth seeing.
