The fountain was designed by the engineer Emilio Lavín Revilla and was inaugurated on October 24, 1962. It is located on the south side of the Second Section´s main circuit and is made out of 11 water mirrors, each one with a concrete monolith representing Olmeca culture. The process in which the amino acids transform into living beings is represented by glyphs, and is the same concept that Diego Rivera wished to express in his mural “Origen de la Vida” in the Cárcamo de Dolores. After being remodeled it opened once again on December 23, 2016, and nowadays has much more green areas.
