This is one of Mexico´s most important museums as it is a symbol of its identity and a window to its cultural roots. Since its conception it was seen as a space to reflect on the nation´s rich native heritage. Its 22 halls and more than 45,000 square meters make it one of the largest museums in the country and one of the most renowned in the world. It contains archaeological and ethnographic pieces recollected since the eighteenth century. Its halls are set up in chronological order and grouped by cultures with unique objects, maps, summary tables, illustrations, and audiovisual material.
