Chapultepec Forest Trust

We are a mixed organization that voluntarily raises funds for the renovation, rehabilitation, and preservation of Chapultepec Forest. Our goal is for visiting families to enjoy a world-class urban park that, in addition to being a cultural, natural, and artistic heritage site, is essential for the environmental conservation of Mexico City.

Our Mission

To contribute to the comprehensive sustainability of Chapultepec Forest through the development of plans, projects, research, and fundraising, in coordination with Authorities and Civil Society, for the benefit of the Forest and Mexico City.

To position Chapultepec Forest as a green and sustainable public space that transcends generations and becomes a source of national pride. A safe, diverse, and inclusive place to connect with oneself, with others, and with nature.

Governance Framework

Advisory Technical Committee

The Advisory Technical Committee is a group of distinguished Mexican citizens who voluntarily contribute to the preservation, rehabilitation, and comprehensive improvement of Chapultepec Forest. The Committee determines where and how the funds raised are invested, based on projects derived from the Master Plans.

What is the Citizen Steering Council?

With the goal of involving citizens in government decision-making, on August 4, 2002, the Head of Government announced the creation of the Citizen Steering Council of Chapultepec Forest. Its members are distinguished representatives of society from private institutions, education, and the academic sector, all committed to the comprehensive improvement of Chapultepec. The Council was initially composed of Ángeles Mastretta, Adriana Pérez Romo de López Dóriga, Germán Dehesa, Emmanuel Acha, and Rodolfo Dirzo, with Gustavo Carvajal joining later.

It is responsible for the preservation and development of the Chapultepec Forest Area of Environmental Value, under sustainability criteria and policies focused on the rehabilitation, conservation, and maintenance of urban infrastructure, as well as the Forest’s historical, artistic, and cultural heritage.

Transparency of Chapultepec Forest Trust

The Chapultepec Forest Trust is a non-profit organization, committed to transparency in the use of the resources it receives through donations. Every peso raised is invested in the preservation and rehabilitation of our green lung.

AIT Accreditation

The Institutional and Transparency Accreditation (AIT) is a set of objective, non-controversial, and easily verifiable benchmarks that reflect an organization’s level of institutional development. It allows anyone—individuals, companies, or institutions—to reliably understand certain transparency characteristics of a private, non-profit organization that provides services to third parties.

Chapultepec Forest Trust Affiliations Bosque de Chapultepec

For several years, Chapultepec Forest has been a member of the World Urban Parks Association (WUPA), an international organization representing urban parks, open spaces, and recreational areas. It is estimated that by 2050, 70% of the world’s population will live in urban areas. Therefore, it is vital to promote environmental awareness and provide a collective voice for individuals and organizations committed to green cities, open spaces, healthy recreation, well-being, and physical activity. 

La WUP brinda asesoramiento internacional, apoyo y conexión con parques urbanos, los espacios abiertos y los problemas de recreación, la gente y la actividad. La intención es combinar la experiencia de miembros y socios para tener la oportunidad de ayudar a construir parques urbanos, liderazgo y lograr mejoras significativas en las ciudades donde
se está produciendo una rápida urbanización.

As a member, Chapultepec Forest has the following responsibilities:

Promote and support common causes and issues at the international and national levels, and on behalf of the agencies.

Facilitate the creation of international networks, collaboration on projects, study tours, peer reviews, staff exchanges, and consulting, engaging government, businesses, and communities together.

Provide access to the latest data and information on urban park issues, actions, and efficiency through conferences and seminars, collaborative research studies, policy development, knowledge centers, and multilingual electronic communications.

Establish international standards and provide benchmarking services and awards to guide and recognize excellence in urban livability and sustainability, as well as organizational and community practices.
Coordinate and facilitate international programs and events.

Strengthen national associations through member discounts, speaker engagement, global conference representation, promotion and expansion of services, and support for the formation of new national associations.

Endorse and promote quality services and products from organizations and groups.

The Chapultepec Forest Trust (Fideicomiso Pro Bosque de Chapultepec) received the Leading Park Organization Award at the WUP@10 Awards 2025, presented by World Urban Parks. World Urban Parks.

This recognition celebrates over 20 years of work dedicated to preserving, restoring, and transforming Chapultepec Forest into a green, safe, and vibrant space that connects communities, promotes sustainability, and enhances the quality of life in Mexico City. The Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Cemefi) is a civil association founded in December 1988. It is a private, non-profit institution with no affiliation to any political party, race, or religion.

The association’s governing body is the General Assembly of Members, which delegates the responsibilities of managing and administering the institution to a Board of Directors. This Board also has an Executive Committee, which addresses more immediate matters, while the

Currently, Cemefi’s membership includes 1,584 institutions and individuals: 1,350 foundations and organizations, 142 companies, 50 individuals, 12 government entities, and 30 specialized consultants.

Due to its members and its connections with national and international organizations, Cemefi is recognized as an important source of reliable information on the civil society sector and social responsibility in Mexico.

The National Association of Parks and Recreation of Mexico promotes the creation, revitalization, and maintenance of urban parks and recreation in our country to improve the quality of life of all citizens through public spaces.

As an organization, we are committed to providing our Spanish-speaking community with the best training in this highly specialized field — urban parks and public spaces. That is why our objectives are:

● To promote the organization of the industry by fostering interaction, training, and development among the various stakeholders committed to public spaces in Mexico and Latin America.

● To generate and share timely and reliable information about the national and international industry.

● To create forums for participation within the network of parks and recreation professionals.

● To contribute to the engagement of the Mexican government and influence the development and establishment of new public policies.

● To promote the regeneration of the social fabric through the improvement and activation of public spaces.
