This monument pays tribute to Cuban politician, thinker, and writer José Martí, founder of the Cuban Revolutionary Party, who found a second home in Mexico.

The hero’s bust was created by sculptor Poube and donated to Chapultepec Forest in January 1953 by the Ajefismo, a Cuban organization, as a symbol of the ties established between Cuba and Mexico during the first half of the 20th century.
