Chapultepec Zoo began its 100th anniversary celebrations with the opening of ANFIBIUM, a venue dedicated to the protection and study of the axolotl.

The facilities are located in the old Elephant House and include exhibition halls, laboratories for axolotl research and reproduction, and an observation deck overlooking the new artificial wetland.
