Actions Taken:
- Project by Architect Mario Schjetnan
- Three pedestrian connections were added along Av. Lomas to link this area with the rest of the forest, giving priority to pedestrians.
- Installation of new pedestrian structure.
- Installation of seating areas.
- Construction of three 7-a-side soccer fields. The bleachers were created using a series of grass-covered mounds contained by barza stone walls. Several benches made from railroad ties were added on these mounds.
- Installation of a service kiosk / commercial area with a green roof.
- Construction of a mixed-use sports court.
- Installation of bioswales and rainwater infiltration wells.
- Installation of children’s playgrounds. Five playground structures were placed in front of the service kiosk: four palmettos and one “cosmo.”
- Forest restoration: phytosanitary assessment, reforestation, and landscaping. 3,650 m² of Kikuyu grass seed and 3,500 m² of Kikuyu sod were planted.
- Installation of lighting throughout the park. Existing field light poles were reused and five additional poles were added. Lighting operates through an electrical system with 22 lamps of 150W each, directed toward pathways and seating areas.
- Installation of urban furniture. All urban furniture follows the model already established in the forest.
- Six trash modules with three-way separation (organic, inorganic, and waste) were installed.
- Sixteen picnic tables were placed in the seating areas.
- Five burgundy loungers were installed in the children’s playground area.
- One bicycle parking module was added near the service kiosk.
- Fifteen bollards were installed to indicate pedestrian crossings and the service bay.
- Signage was added through six totems, directional signs, and informational markers.
- Irrigation. A module for storing treated water was integrated, with a 30,000-liter capacity, for irrigating the green areas.
- This rehabilitation was made possible thanks to donations from several companies and foundations, including: Fundación Díez Morodo, F2 Services, HSBC Seguros, Grupo R, Interprotección, Grupo Chedraui, Siete Colores, and Compartamos México, channeled through the Pro Bosque de Chapultepec Trust. The project is executed by Medina y Arquitectos, under the direction of Grupo de Diseño Urbano led by the renowned architect Mario Schjetnan, with external supervision by A+V Coordinación, Diseño y Construcción.
