The Monumental Gate of the Lions stands as the main entrance to Chapultepec Forest. The majestic lion sculptures that frame it were created by the French artist Georges Gardet.
Originally commissioned by the government of Porfirio Díaz to adorn the Legislative Palace, their fate changed after the 1910 Revolution. In 1921, these imposing sculptures found their permanent home at the forest’s main entrance, becoming its eternal guardians.
