At the top of Chapultepec Hill, the Castle houses the National History Museum, which tells the rich history of Mexico from the pre-Hispanic and colonial periods to the early 20th century. This iconic site allows visitors to explore the Alcázar, whose rooms recreate the eras of Maximilian, Carlota, and Porfirio Díaz, and also serves as a venue for concerts and cultural activities.
Originally conceived as the country house of the viceroys, the Castle has undergone numerous transformations in its interiors, decoration, and functions over time. In addition to housing the Military College, it has also served as the presidential residence, giving it a unique significance in Mexico’s history.
