Cárcamo de Dolores and Tláloc Fountain

In this fascinating space, you’ll find two impressive works by Diego Rivera that celebrate the vital element of water: the mural “Water, Origin of Life on Earth” and the monumental Tláloc Fountain.

The building that houses these works was created by architect Ricardo Rivas, who designed this structure in 1951 to commemorate the completion of the hydraulic works of the Lerma System.

Behind the Cárcamo lie the striking Dolores Tanks. Each one has a capacity of 50 million liters and forms part of the essential Lerma–Cutzamala Water System, which supplies a large portion of the city.
