The two lakes in the First Section were excavated in the early 20th century as part of the remodeling works promoted by Porfirio Díaz. Since then, they have been a recreational spot for millions of visitors. At Lago Mayor, Lanchacinema takes place on the first Saturday of every month, offering open-air film screenings from rowboats.
