Los Pinos was the official residence of the President of Mexico. This site was originally an estate called La Hormiga until 1934, when President Lázaro Cárdenas decided to convert it into the presidential residence.

By order of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, it was transformed into a Cultural Complex starting December 1, 2018.
