In 2008, it received the Honor Award for General Design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to the deterioration of its hydraulic and electrical infrastructure, and thanks to the support of HSBC, a comprehensive restoration project is being carried out by Grupo de Dise\u00f1o Urbano (GDU) and executed by CENTRO D\u00cdA. The project replaces the mechanical system with an artificial wetland system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This approach significantly reduces the need for pumping and electrical equipment, creating a system that naturally remains in balance through slow-flowing aquatic vegetation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br><strong>Environmental Benefits:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Reduction in electricity consumption:<\/strong> from 100,000 kWh to 8,000 kWh per year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reduction in emissions:<\/strong> from 40 t CO\u2082 to 3.4 t CO\u2082 per year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Additional carbon capture by wetlands:<\/strong> 4.2 t CO\u2082 per year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>With this intervention, the Water Mirror becomes a <strong>resilient, efficient, and sustainable landscape<\/strong>within Chapultepec Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Located next to Avenida Paseo de la Reforma, the Water Mirror was designed by architect Mario Schjetnan as part of the Master Plan for the First Section of Chapultepec Park.
