{"id":25760,"date":"2025-06-24T23:28:20","date_gmt":"2025-06-25T05:28:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.chapultepec.org.mx\/?post_type=espacio&#038;p=25760"},"modified":"2025-07-18T11:34:06","modified_gmt":"2025-07-18T17:34:06","slug":"banos-de-moctezuma","status":"publish","type":"espacio","link":"https:\/\/www.chapultepec.org.mx\/en\/espacio\/banos-de-moctezuma\/","title":{"rendered":"Moctezuma\u2019s Baths"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Of pre-Hispanic origin and previously known as the Espinosa Pool, this space supplied water to the estates south of Chapultepec Hill, such as La Condesa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the 19th century, a renowned bathhouse complex was built in front of this water reservoir: the Casa Ba\u00f1os de Chapultepec, owned by Jos\u00e9 Amor y Escand\u00f3n. These baths were inaugurated on April 1, 1870, and closed in August 1881.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eventually, the Escand\u00f3n family sold the property to the city council, which demolished the baths and integrated the land into Chapultepec Forest, leaving only the pre-Hispanic water container standing.
